Overview

The Floe Video Player Wordpress Plugin allows a Wordpress editor to bring together video content, captions, and transcripts into a single experience.

Functionality

Video

  • Specify a title
  • Specify one or more URLs to videos of different formats
  • For each URL, specify the format of the video: MP4, OGG, OGV, YouTube

Captions

  • Specify zero or more Amara or VTT caption
  • If Amara caption
    • Specify an URL to the caption
  • If VTT
    • Specify an uploaded file
  • Specify the language of the caption (regardless of the format)

(warning) Note: Some options change depending whether VTT or Amara is selected.

Transcript

  • Specify zero or more Amara or JSONcc transcript resource
  • If Amara transcript
    • Specify an URL to the transcript
  • If JSONcc
    • Specify uploaded file
  • Specify the language of the transcript (regardless of the format)

Questions

  1. Is any other information required? i.e. author, description / summary, primary language, etc?
  2. Are any of the fields mandatory? I assume Video URL and format are required.
  3. How common is the Amara use case for either Transcript or Captions?
  4. Can JSONcc or VTT resources be loaded from an URL?
  5. Can the type of caption / transcript be detected given an URL?
  6. Can an Amara transcript or Amara caption be uploaded locally or must it always

  • Duplicate caption or transcript
  • Invalid caption or transcript
  • Language not specified for caption or transcript
  • be specified with an URL?
