Facilitator should encourage user to think aloud throughout the testing process:
  1. A screenshot of the previously tested implemented PMT is used to transition to the PCP. User is instructed to close the window.
  2. Upon closing the PMT, instructional overlay and audio (spoken by the facilitator) is provided to the user of methods to access preferences quickly in order to make tweaks. If instructions are not understood by the user, facilitator rephrases purpose of PCP. Wording user understands is made note of by the facilitator. Possible rephrasing:
    1. You can now open another tool which will allow you to make quick adjustments to your preferences.
    2. Opening this tool will provide you with a way to modify your settings.
    3. This tool will provide you with quick access to the preferences so that you can change them as you go
  3. Depending on method chosen relevant PCP configuration is brought up:
    1. keyboard shortcut opens the key control configuration
    2. top right hot corner opens the side panel configuration
  4. User reaction between the presentation of preferences in the PMT versus the PCP is observed.
  5. Navigation and adjustment of preferences is observed. If necessary, user is prompted to make a tweak to a specific preference or to navigate to a preference not immediately available. Prompt user understands is made note of by the facilitator. Possible prompts (facilitator chooses at least one option from each adjuster group, where possible):
    1. sliders
      1. increase the size to make the text easier to read(text size only in panel and mobile configuration)
      2. quite down the audio (volume only in panel and mobile configuration)
    2. +/- input field
      1. increase the size to make the text easier to read (text size only in key control configuration)
      2. zoom in closer (magnification level only after magnifier is turned on)
    3. on/off toggle
      1. zoom in, so that the window are larger (magnifier)
      2. watch a video with  descriptions for the dialog (captions)
    4. radio buttons
      1. change the colours to white on black (contrast)
  6. Mockups reflect the live visual feedback a user recieves upon modifying a preference - if feedback is audio, facilitator communicates what would happen to the user (e.g. sound plays from volume level change).
  7. User is asked to close the preference editor, then reopen it. User can switch between PCP configurations if they choose an alternative method of reopening the PCP. If user chooses an alternative method to open the PCP, reaction to new PCP presentation is made note of by the facilitator.
  8. When the user is done tweaking preferences they are asked "You wish to keep these adjustments to use later on other devices, how would you do this?" - if necessary  question is rephrased until user understands the purpose of the action. Wording user understands is made note of by the facilitator. Possible alternative wording:
    1. How would you save the preferences to the cloud?
    2. How would you store all the changes you have made so you can apply them to other devices (e.g. to a public computer)
    3. How would you keep these settings so that you can use them later on another computer?
